New “Extreme Controller” Added to SMS Access Control Line, Delivering Improved Performance and Reliability Print E-mail
The new SMS Extreme Controller is designed to support access control systems with up to 256readers, functioning as the system’s web server and database server as well as housing databasestorage and the system-wide application log. It will eventually replace the Basic NetworkController, although Vicon is currently still accepting order for Basic Network Controllers for upto 32 readers.

Features:

On-board, solid-state disk storage of up to 64 GB: Solid-state storage frees the

Extreme Controller from any potential mechanical failure and delivers faster access time.

8X faster processing power than Basic Network Controller: Faster throughput and

increased performance supports up to 8x more events-per-second than the Basic Network

Controller.

Wall or Rack-Mounting: Lightweight, aluminum enclosures feature a status LED, tamper

switch and 12 VDC power supply. The rack-mount model measures 2 rack-units in height.

Easy retrofit from Basic Controller Systems: Database from existing Basic Controllers may be easily transferred to newer Extreme models.

Configurations: Models may be purchased in configurations that support from 16 to 256 readers. Controllers may be upgraded in 64-reader

increments to accommodate growing systems.

Partitioning License: An SMS Partitioning License is offered to create multiple “virtual” smaller systems residing on a single Extreme Controller.

Availability

The SMS Extreme Controller will begin shipping in 1st Quarter. All models are featured in the January 2010 Price List.
